SUMMARY:AI in the Sky: Drone-Based Wildfire Detection and Prevention
DESCRIPTION:Climate change has intensified wildfire frequency and severity 
 across British Columbia. This session explores how AI-powered drones are 
 transforming wildfire management through prediction\, real-time detection\, 
 and post-fire assessment. The talk includes a live demonstration of the 
 SkyScout wildfire monitoring dashboard.\n\nPresenter: Dr. Michal Aibin is 
 the Program Head of the M.Sc. in Applied Computing at BCIT\, where his 
 research focuses on AI\, computer vision\, and drone-based systems for 
 disaster resilience. His work has been featured on Global BC and in IEEE\, 
 MDPI\, and other peer-reviewed venues.\n\nThis event is in-person in Town 
 Square C and online via Teams.\n\nA light lunch will be provided at the 
 in-person event. \n\nRegistration is recommended but not required.
