Research Into Practice: Caring Conversations to Support BCIT Instructors and Promote Wellbeing In-Person / Online
Presented by Dr. Morgan Westcott, Ed.D.
Join Morgan for an exploration of her doctoral research project and learn more about how the work is progressing today. Morgan's study of instructor encounters with distressed students at BCIT used care ethics as a framework to study these experiences with a goal to recommend ways BCIT could better support instructors, centre their voices, and acknowledge instructor well-being as important in its own right. Participants will hear about the research findings as well as help build out the recommendations, and explore ways they can contribute to a conversation of care at BCIT - one that starts with instructors, but champions well being for the entire learning community.
Presenter: Morgan has been an associate dean in the School of Business and Media for nearly 6 years, and taught for 5 years in the School prior to that. Morgan has been an instructor and leader at RRU, UFV, and Capilano U and worked on projects for the BC Ministries of Education and Advanced Education.
Registration is recommended.
