Zero Textbook Cost Luncheon for BMC Instructors In-Person

Enjoy a free lunch sponsored by BCcampus, which recently awarded BCIT an Open Education Institutional Grant. Over lunch, librarian Ian Linkletter will give a 20-minute presentation on the benefits of open education and ZTC.

What is ZTC?

ZTC stands for Zero Textbook Cost - an institution-wide effort to save students money and support equitable access to education. By using open textbooks and resources, as well as library resources, your courses could become ZTC too.

Textbook costs are a real barrier for students. In a 2017 BC study, 26% of students said they didn’t register for a course and 17% said they dropped a course because of textbook costs.

How to get involved:

There’s a new ZTC checkbox in the Course Outline system to help students find affordable courses. In Summer and Fall 2025, BCIT offered 1,205 ZTC courses. Could yours be next? Join us to explore how!

This in-person event will take place in the 350A Lounge.
