Podcasting for Teaching: Experiences Across BCIT In-Person / Online

Do our instructors lead podcasts? Yes! Come hear how two instructors from very different fields (Radiation Therapy vs. Communication) recently created podcasts to share innovative ideas from instructors, students, and even industry. This session will cover each podcast’s different purpose, audience, process, lessons learned, and future plans.

Presenters

Peter Beresford: Peter has taught at BCIT for 12 years, including four years in the Communication Department, and two years as a Program Head for ISEP at the DTC. He currently teaches Communication to 1st year Business IT Management students and coordinates BCIT’s 1-on-1 Communication Coaching and Language Support service. Peter has received multiple grants for teaching innovation over the years, and he's regularly testing fresh ways to compete for students' attention and make class more engaging, purposeful, and relevant. He loves teaching Communication at BCIT and was also a full-time student here before there was email.

Brynn Tomie: Brynn is an instructor in the radiation therapy program, a program from which she is also a graduate. She has worked at BC Cancer as a radiation therapist since 2019 and is in her 4th year teaching at BCIT. Brynn has a passion for curriculum development and is constantly looking for new ways to share information with her students. This podcast is the product of her first teaching innovation grant.
