Facilitating Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities between a student and host organization has many considerations such as: program design, evaluation, job development, risk management, employment standards, financial aid, and international students. The Work Integrated learning (WIL) Faculty Toolkit was developed to centralize information related to developing and facilitating WIL experiences at BCIT. It will help faculty and instructors who are new to these experiences quickly find the information they need and create quality experiences for students and industry. Joan Pascual is Program Head for the Centre for Workplace Education at BCIT where she supports initiatives related to Work Integrated Learning (WIL). Her career has revolved around WIL, with over a decade of experience as Co-op Coordinator and teaching career related courses to high school and university students. She has worked with students and employers in industries ranging from science, business, tech, and automotive trades. In addition, Joan holds an M.Ed. in Educational Technology and Learning Design and has developed online courses related to career development.
